07 Dec Bears & Butterflies meets… Pickle Shack
Catering, whether it’s for a wedding, party or event is always a big decision. The last thing anyone wants is hungry guests. Hungry guests are grumpy guests – and that does not help any party spirit. So there’s a lot riding on your food choices and this may fill you with fear and dread. Possibly even resulting in nightmares about whether you should have canapés or not. Today though, we’re going to try to soothe your concerns. You’re probably never going to please everyone no matter what you opt for – although with Pickle Shack you just might…
The food these guys produce is incredible. This blog post should probably come with a warning – not only will these images make you starving hungry, they’ll also make whatever food you have to hand seem incredibly dull and uninspiring. Over to Jodie to tell you more about Pickle Shack! (All images: Matt Austin)
When did you decide to start your own company?
Josh and I set our sights on a new challenge after returning from travel and foodie adventures in 2014. We hosted our first pop up restaurant to a crowd of over 100 people… and haven’t had chance to catch a breath since!
What made you decide to start your business?
Josh has always worked as a chef and I have always worked in events – it was a no-brainer to combine our skills to start a business where we could indulge our passion for creative cuisine and events.
What’s the best bit of your job?
For me, it is seeing everybody’s hard work come together on the event day itself. Working closely with our couples for months ahead of the event, I become totally invested in their visions, and it’s incredibly satisfying seeing it come to life.
What can people expect if they book you?
Bespoke is our mantra. We work with our couples to build their dream menus taking inspiration from special food memories, where they like to go out and eat, super-star suppliers that surround their wedding venue and the season of their wedding day… to name just a few!
What piece of advice would you give to couples planning a wedding?
Be a little bit selfish! It is very tempting to consider all of your guests’
tastes when planning your wedding food, but there’s a risk that this will result in a predictable menu. Instead, design your menu based around what you enjoy eating and our Michelin trained chefs will take care of the rest!
What’s your idea of a perfect day?
Coffee to start, followed by exploring somewhere new and a sketchbook session to finish.
What three things can’t you live without?
Coffee. Family. Friends. That’s in alphabetical order, in case you were wondering.
